A SIMPLE SOLUTION TO A MAJOR PROBLEM: The Buttrap

STORMWATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT DEVICE

Standard storm water inlet:

This open inlet allows cigarette butts and other gross pollutants to easily enter our waterways via our underground piped storm water system.

Standard storm water inlet with
"THE BUTTRAP":

The BUTTRAP is recommended as an effective way to control street litter from entering the waterways via the storm water system.

The BUTTRAP prevents cigarette butts and other gross pollutants from entering our fragile, life sustaining resource-our oceans and waterways.

Street litter is unsightly, environmentally damaging and can cause blockages to storm water management systems.

Despite education programs, awareness campaigns and street cleaning programs, large amounts of gross pollutants are still entering our storm water systems.

This has led to the design ,manufacture, and trial of the BUTTRAP.

The BUTTRAP is made of perforated stainless steel, made to suit your specifications. The BUTTRAP is simply installed and secured to the kerb with stainless steel masonry fastners. The BUTTRAP can be easily cleaned manually or by mechanical street sweeper.

The BUTTRAP was successfully trialled with the Byron Bay Shire Council NSW.

The BUTTRAP is effective in preventing various types and sizes of gross pollutants such as:

  • cigarette butts
  • organic matter
  • plastics
  • cans and bottles

from entering the storm water system.
